How to handle DB errors for external crons ?

Hello All,

I have written few scripts for the database synchronization with another interface.
I have kept the crons inside /cron folder and i have used basic mysql functions to connect to DB and execute the query.

I want to know if there is any way I could handle db errors in the query execution which could occur.

I also want to know how does kayako handles the db error. Is there any email address defined where the mail goes for kayako errrors?
