Hooks and Apps for SaaS Kayako

Is it possible to create hooks or apps for the SaaS version of Kayako? I want to update my custom application whenever a ticket is created in Kayako.

I could use the REST API to poll Kayako but hooks would be cleaner. Is there any other solution that is cleaner than these and is possible with the SaaS version.
